Well, it’s that time of the year again when we head to the produce section and find all these strange looking squashes, just sitting there and we all wonder what to do with them. I became a big fan of squash several years ago. As a kid you couldn’t get me to eat one for all the money in the world. Today I can make a whole meal out of one and love it….

My sister told me about a seeded bread she had a few years ago while on a trip to Cathedral Lake Lodge. She was involved in a photography workshop for a weekend high in the mountains in beautiful British Columbia. She said, the bread was made with whole wheat and filled with seeds, grains and a hint of maple; it was a heavy bread and perfect for a high energy day of hiking while being loaded down with camera gear….
With so many people interested in a healthy lifestyle it’s no wonder that multi-grain breads have become very popular. By soaking the grains in buttermilk the night before helps to soften the grains and adds flavour, if not I’m sure you could break a tooth or two, when you bite into the bread after baking. I know that many people ( like my kids ) feel that whole wheat and multi-grain breads can be bland and boring. But when done correctly they can become the tastiest wholesome breads you’ve ever tasted….
